Matthew 16:18 KJV
[18] And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Matthew 24:9 KJV
[9] Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.

When Jesus first declared his intention (Original purpose) of coming on earth, that of building his Church (Greek: ek-klesia), he quickly added that the gates of hell shall not prevail against her. By so declaring, we understand that the church shall be under attack from the power of the enemy. But however fierce the battle rages, the enemy shall not overcome the church. The only reason the power of evil shall not prevail against the church is because she belongs to JESUS Christ.
We therefore know that whoever fights against the church, fights against God Himself
Acts 5:38 KJV
[38] And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought:
Acts 23:9 KJV
[9] And there arose a great cry: and the scribes that were of the Pharisees’ part arose, and strove, saying, We find no evil in this man: but if a spirit or an angel hath spoken to him, let us not fight against God.
We know that no one can conquer God. It therefore goes without saying that since God cannot be defeated in battle, the church is a guaranteed institution. The Book of Revelation shows this clear fact that the church is victorious. amen.

Let us briefly look at the enemies of the church as we look in the Bible.
There are three enemies of the Church
1. Satan
2. World system
3. Flesh (canal life)
Let us consider these enemies one by one.

Let me state here clearly that the origin and author of this enmity between godly seed and Satan is God. In Genesis 3:15 KJV we read;
[15] And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
God instituted this enmity to replace a friendship that was initiated between Satan (serpent) and Eve (the woman) which formed a team of rebellion to the Creator. Satan had come to form an alliance with human race to contradict God. God responded sharply by instituting a separation between them, thus ending friendship.
Remember God, had separated light and darkness so that darkness and light shall never coexist. He had drawn a line between good and evil so there shall be no harmony between them.

Stand against:1 Chronicles 21:1 KJV[1] And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel.
Resisting saints: Zechariah 3:1 KJV[1] And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord , and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him.
Tempter of the church: Matthew 4:3 KJV [3] And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.
1 Thessalonians 3:5 KJV [5] For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour be in vain.

Fills hearts:Acts 5:3 KJV[3] But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?
Blindfolds men: 2 Corinthians 4:4 KJV
[4] In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

Devorer: 1 Peter 5:8 KJV[8] Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
Bondages: Luke 13:16 KJV[16] And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?
Possession : Luke 22:3 KJV[3] Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve.
Sifting saints: Luke 22:31 KJV[31] And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:
Hindrance:1 Thessalonians 2:18 KJV[18] Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul, once and again; but Satan hindered us.
Takes advantage: 2 Corinthians 2:11 KJV[11] Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.
Masquerading: 2 Corinthians 11:14 KJV[14] And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
Deception: Revelation 12:9 KJV[9] And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
Accuser of the brethren: Revelation 12:10 KJV[10] And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
Rebuke satan: Zechariah 3:2 KJV[2] And the Lord said unto Satan, The Lord rebuke thee, O Satan; even the Lord that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?
Matthew 16:23 KJV[23] But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.
Resist satan: 1 Peter 5:9] Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
James 4:7 KJV[7] Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
The blood of the lamb and the word of testimony: Revelation 12:11 KJV[11] And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

The second enemy of the church is the world system. The world system is an organized system in the world as opposed to God and his purpose on earth, including all children of satan who devise and run their affairs in ungodly manner against God’s will.

HATRED OF GOD AND HIS CHILDREN: John 15:18-19 KJV[18] If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. [19] If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
DISOBEDIENCE TO GOD: John 15:20 KJV[20] Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.
DONT LOVE: 1 John 2:15-17 KJV[15] Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. [16] For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. [17] And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

The third enemy of the church is the Flesh. The King James Version of the Bible mentions the word ‘flesh’ about 151 times. It refers to human nature with it frailties, physically or morally, carnally or carnally minded.

Galatians 5:19-21 KJV
[19] Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these ; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, [20] Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, [21] Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
OTHER WORKS: Cannot please God: Romans 8:8 KJV[8] So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
Death: Romans 8:13 KJV[13] For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

Galatians 2:20 KJV[20] I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Galatians 5:24 KJV
[24] And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

We have seen through these scriptures and many more that the church has an enemy but victory is sure because the church is built on the solid rock- Jesus Christ the Lord.
All the three enemies mentioned above have been conquered by the captain of our faith. “We can confidently say the Lord is my helper, whom shall I fear, what shall man do unto me”.
John 16:33 KJV
[33] These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

God bless you.
